One day he will become the Supreme Governor of the Church of
England but for now Prince William has not proven himself to be much of a
church goer, attending mass only a “handful” of times each year,
British tabloid The Daily Mail reveals.
A source that is close to the heir to the British throne and his wife
Kate said they “rarely, if ever go to church privately on a Sunday
morning, or indeed at any other time in the week.”
The newspaper reported that the dukes of Cambridge only attend the
Anglican Church for official ceremonies and feast days prescribed by the
Church, when it is absolutely necessary for them to be present.
In a critical tone, The Daily Mail goes on to say that the Queen on the other hand is a devout Christian who attends church “on a weekly basis.”
Meanwhile, “Prince Charles, despite his interest in other faiths, particularly Islam, has always been a regular churchgoer.”
When William rises to the throne one day, one of the titles he will inherit is that of ‘Defender
of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England’.
He will
therefore play a determining role in the nomination of some of the
country’s most important ecclesiastical figures.
