Late Pope Shenouda Wins Austria's Cardinal Koenig Prize

Late Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese copped the 2012 Cardinal Koenig Prize - which is bestowed on prominent Church figures in the world.

Pope Shenouda won the award in appreciation of his 40-year outstanding efforts for peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Copts in Egypt.

Bishop Egon Kapellari of the Austrian city Graz handed over the award to Egyptian Coptic Bishop in Austria Anba Gabriel during a ceremony held in Vienna.

Egyptian Consul General in Vienna Mohamed el-Fil attended the ceremony along with representatives from various Austrian churches and a large number Egyptian Copts living in Austria.
