Natwivity takes Christmas story to Twitter users

Christians and all other fans of the Christmas season will be able to follow the Nativity story on Twitter from December 1.

Twitter users will be able to follow Natwivity throughout Advent, when different figures from the world's most famous story will bash out 140-character updates each day.

They include Joseph, Mary, the shepherds, the three wise and King Herod.

Natwivity is being organised by design company Share Creative and the Evangelical Alliance to bring the 2,000-year-old story to social media platforms.

They hope Twitter users will get a fresh insight into the thoughts and feelings of Bible characters, such as Mary's experience of riding a donkey through the night, to the awe of the shepherds when they meet the angelic host.

Huw Tyler, of Share Creative, says: “We want to tell the Christmas story, an amazingly exciting story in a way that is not only accessible, but is fun and relevant to today’s internet generation.”

Followers can read daily accounts by logging onto www.twitter.com/natwivity and clicking ‘follow’ or visiting the page on Facebook – www.facebook.com/natwivity

The play is suitable for everyone and begins on 1 December running up until Christmas Day.
